Citrus Buttered King Snake

Yields 4 Servings

Ingredients:

16 oz (2) fresh King Snakes (Ready to Eat)
1/2 c water 1/4 c butter
1 TB lemon juice
1/2 Ts finely shredded orange peel
1/8 Ts salt dash ground ginger dash paprika

Directions:

Bring a pot full of water to a boil. Place king snakes in boiling water for 6 to 8 minutes or just till meat is opaque.

Combine butter, lemon juice, orange peel, salt, ginger and paprika in a skillet. Heat until butter is melted, mixing ingredients well. Drizzle king snakes with butter mixture and serve hot.

    Try just skillet frying them in the butter indtead of boiling….MMMMM, MMMM, Good!

    Interesting to see how violent and illiterate most of the people complaining about the site are. Hint to those folks:
    Some of us find this funny because it is deadpan and yet obviously over the top. I would suspect that the folks behind the site have pets and take excellent care of them. If you’re worried about animal abuse, go volunteer at a shelter or protest cosmetics companies that unnecessarily torture animals. WHile you’re at it, do something about your anger-management issues, gullibility, and primitive grammar and spelling.

    That said, rattlesnake can be quite tasty. Not kidding here – eating snake is not that uncommon in some parts of the U.S., and you can buy pre-skinned, frozen rattlers quite legally. I did try to avoid eating dog back when I lived in a country where it was all too readily available at the markets. However, I was aware that it was simply a cultural prejudice on my part, and that there was no rational reason for eating chicken and lamb but refusing dog.

    This dish wasnt my favorite but it was okay. I used a python though.

    It was our family pet but I didnt really like him.
