Here at Pets or Food, we only recently instituted the ability for our consumers to leave feedback via a comment system. Our hope was that we would get valuable insight into the thoughts and desires of our customers. Like many well intentioned business ideas dreamed up by MBAs, this hasn’t exactly been the result.
Instead, I have been called names, the business itself has been insulted, and a gentleman threatened my life. This particular fellow who thinks offering to kill people online is a good idea lives in the Salt Lake area. How do we know this? We logged his IP address when he made his comment. We turned this IP address over to the FBI, who in turn is working with this gentleman’s ISP to get his real name and address.
Now, I am as red blooded, God loving, all American as it gets. I value free speech and my right to pack heat. But it saddens me that hate spewing, vitriol stirring talk radio people like Rush Limbaugh and Al Franken have brought civil discourse to such a low in our country that the only way the pathetic misanthrope from Utah can express his disagreement with our legal, thriving business is with violence.
Today I fired the MBA who said we’d get “valuable insight.” I lit a candle and said a prayer for the clearly maladjusted social misfit from the land of bigamy. And I left up our comment system. Because I value free speech. And if the rantings of a would be stalker/murderer bring a few people to our site, who might also be interested in one of our specials like the 6 pack of hamsters, well God bless the free market, God bless the constitution, and God bless our incisors that enable us to eat meat!

well it is very rude to threaten someone`s life!but honestly sidney not everyone has the same opinion. i`m sure some people just get caught up in the moment and express themselves as though they are writing to a diary.im not at all taking the man who threatened you`s side!but he should have thought before he wrote.sometimes people try to be cool and do things that are not right!all i`m saying is that type of behaviour should be punished!

I want to first congratulate you on a well thought out business plan. Kudos to you and your new marketing director. I’m looking forward to what new “keen insights” you’ll bring us, the consumers, in ‘09. Next, I’d like to know if you do “outside” contacting for any of your delicious products. I’m associated with an area German Shepherd rescue and have come across many dogs who, while vital and meaty, are not good adoption candidates. It seems a shame to waste them. They’re mostly organic and have minimal levels of antibiotics. Perhaps your customers would enjoy a Shepherd Sampler Pack… or a dessert batch of Petit “Fours”? I think this website is disgusting and I cant believe that you believe that you are doing animals and the world a favour. Anyone who could click a button on their computers to have an animal killed and sent to them, or worse still sent to them live so that they can do the killing is so wrong and those people, including yourself must have had a really bad upbringing. I dont think you could do this if animals spoke our language, could you?! You wouldnt be able to kill a human because they would scream out for you to stop. Where is the limit? When have you crossed the line and gone way too far? Id like to ask you… How do you sleep at night? Do you hear the screams of innocent lives or do you pay someone to kill for your website like the coward you probably are?! I guess that I am right.
